In 1606, William Shakespere wrote a play that would go down in
history as the cursed scottish play after numerouse mishaps during the
production it was written for his new patron James IV of scotland, following
the death of Queen Elizibeth. James was very interested in witchcraft and
Scotland, that is why macbeth is based on those themes. It is among the
most popular of Shakesperes plays as well as the shortest tradgeties. The
play itself tells a story urged by his wife and foretold by prophecy, who
commited regicide, or deliberately killed a monarch in order to gain power.
Unfortunately, the play is a little hard to understand without assistance. This
play is important because it is one of the most popular tradgeties written by
Shakespere. Also, it has many obscure allusions and a lot of symbolism
which better help us understand allusions and symbolism.
